Seed IP partner co-authors article, “USPTO Access to Relevant Prior Art Initiative Status Update”

Seed IP partner Hayley J. Talbert has co-authored, with Michael M. Morris of Woodard, Emhardt, Henry, Reeves & Wagner, LLC, an article that was recently published in the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) Patent Law Committee Newsletter – October 2020. The article, entitled “USPTO Access to Relevant Prior Art Initiative Status Update,” summarizes the current status of this initiative at the USPTO and considers the future handling and streamlining of Information Disclosure Statements (IDS).

About the authors:

Hayley J. Talbert
Hayley Talbert devotes her time to strategic intellectual property counseling in the electrical, software, and mechanical arts, focusing on efficient and effective patent prosecution. She is the Electrical Engineering Practice Group Lead and has been an integral part of the Seed IP team since her time as a law clerk in 2007. Hayley’s practice concentrates on managing international patent portfolios and teams of attorneys for large institutions, most notably in the semiconductor and automotive industries.

Michael M. Morris
Mike Morris is a partner with Woodard, Emhardt, Henry, Reeves & Wagner, LLC, a full service intellectual property law firm. As an inventor of an issued U.S. Patent obtained during Mike’s time in engineering, Mike understands a client’s perspective in dealing with intellectual property matters. His practice encompasses all areas of intellectual property law, including identifying, procuring,and enforcing patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets. Specifically, Mike has significant experience in preparing and prosecuting medical device and mechanical patent applications in the U.S. and abroad; providing freedom-to-operate, infringement/non-infringement, and invalidity/validity opinions; and monitoring competitor intellectual property.
