Tessa McClure is a patent agent, a non-attorney IP professional licensed to practice before the USPTO, although currently pursuing her J.D. at Seattle University School of Law. Based in Bellingham, Washington, near the Canadian border, she helps clients navigate the complex IP process to make confident, informed decisions. Working with clients from first-time inventors to multinational corporations, she keeps her clients' IP strategies aligned as their business priorities evolve, and takes on the full spectrum of IP challenges, the more unconventional the better.
Tessa prepares and prosecutes U.S. patent applications across a wide range of technologies, including medical devices, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, biochemistry, genomics, fintech, semiconductors, MEMS, electronics, software, and consumer products.
She manages domestic and international patent portfolios, working closely with foreign counsel worldwide. Beyond standard prosecution, Tessa is considered an authority on sequence listings, handles complex assignment and ownership matters, and supports clients through transactional matters including acquisitions, mergers, and licensing escrow.
Having worked her way from patent paralegal to registered agent, her deep familiarity with every layer of the patent system keeps her practice running efficiently, which translates directly to better outcomes for her clients.
