Seed IP Sponsors PROJECT BIOTECH 2019

For the fourth consecutive year, Seed IP Law Group proudly sponsored the recent PROJECT BIOTECH program. Presented by Shoreline Community College, PROJECT BIOTECH is a series of biotechnology-themed summer camps designed to engage and inspire high school students to consider STEM careers. A positive camp experience encourages students to enroll in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) courses which is critical for their preparation to pursue STEM-related careers. These students become the next generation of biotech talent (scientists, science literate citizens, etc.) that will enable our biotechnology industry to flourish.

Shoreline Community College’s three biotech summer camps draw diverse students from multiple school districts, all with an interest in science, technology, health and the environment. These unique biotechnology and career focused camps engage students in hands-on lab and computer activities, introduce them to scientists and inspire them to see themselves in STEM careers.

The 2019 summer camps, all held at Shoreline Community College, included:

"Biotechnology Essentials and Beyond” on July 8 - 12

"Biotechnology & Infectious Disease: Tracking Hantavirus in WA" on July 22 - 26

"Biotechnology & Cancer: Causes, Cures and Careers" on August 5 - 9

This year’s Career Panel took place on July 23, in association with the “Biotechnology and Infectious Disease” camp. Seed IP associate Brooke L. Sargeant, Ph.D. has participated on the Career Panel of PROJECT BIOTECH for the past several years.

Other sponsors of the 2019 program include: Juno Therapeutics, Celgene, Seattle Genetics, AGC Biologics, Bristol-Myers Squibb, nanoString, bluebird bio, SystImmune, Inc., Thermo Fisher Scientific, Covance, Edmonds 15 School District, Northshore School District, Everett Public Schools, and Shoreline Central Market.

Below are some photos from this year’s PROJECT BIOTECH, as well as some thank you cards recently received by Seed IP Law Group.
