Seed IP partners scheduled to present at upcoming claim enforcement seminars in Japan — May 31 & June 1

Seed IP partners Shoko Leek, Kevan Morgan, and Blake Kumabe are scheduled to present arguments in mock claim construction (“Markman”) hearings at two upcoming Means-Plus-Function Claim Enforcement Strategies seminars in Japan. Hosted by TMI Associates (Tokyo) on May 31, and by Osaka Institute of Technology (Osaka) on June 3, the seminars are designed to highlight different approaches to functional claiming in the United States, Japan, and Europe. At the conclusion of each of the two U.S. claim construction hearings, lawyers from TMI and Bardehle Pagenberg (Munich) will conduct mock settlement negotiations.

Toshiko Takenaka, Of Counsel at Seed IP Law Group, is the organizer of the seminars and will moderate the mock hearings and settlement negotiations. At the conclusion of each, she will provide commentary on functional claiming in the United States, Japan, and Europe from a comparative law perspective.
