Javier Mixco’s practice focuses on biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and medical device patent matters, including patent procurement, licensing, and strategic portfolio management. Prior to joining Seed IP, Javier was an associate at three other U.S. law firms focusing on patent preparation and prosecution. While in law school, Javier served as Editor-in-Chief of the Law Review. He was also a judicial extern at the Utah Supreme Court for Justice Matthew B. Durrant and the U.S. District Court, District of Utah for Judge Dee Benson.

Javier has extensive experience in the procurement of domestic and international patents, strategic counseling regarding portfolio management, due diligence evaluations, and litigation support. Javier enjoys working directly with clients to ensure IP strategies and portfolio management are focused on the clients’ commercial objectives. Javier’s clients have ranged from small startups to major research institutions and multinational companies. Javier has managed patent portfolios that include biotech, medical device, plant, mechanical, and design patents.
While in medical school, Javier worked in a laboratory focused on neuroprotection imparted by volatile anesthetics. Javier was a co-author of several scientiﬁc articles published in peer-reviewed journals on the subject.
Javier is admitted to the Utah State Bar and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He is a member of the Washington State Patent Law Association.
