BACKGROUND

Carol Laherty specializes in U.S. and foreign biotechnology intellectual property matters, including patent procurement, licensing, and strategic planning. She earned both a B.S. in Biology and Economics and a Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Michigan. She holds a J.D. (with honors) from the University of Washington.

EXPERIENCE

Prior to attending law school, Carol conducted post-doctoral research in the Basic Sciences Division of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, where she also served as a mentor for the Science Education Program. Carol has extensive research experience and has published numerous articles in scientific journals. Among other honors, Carol was elected a Leukemia Society of America Special Fellow and was awarded post-doctoral fellowships from the National Cancer Institute and the American Cancer Society.

AFFILIATIONS

Carol is admitted to the Washington State Bar and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. She is a member of the Washington State Patent Law Association, the American Bar Association, and the American Intellectual Property Law Association.
