Jennifer Ashton counsels and assists clients with acquiring, maintaining, and policing trademark, copyright and domain name rights. In 2003, Jennifer earned her B.A. (with Honors) in English Literature from Columbia University. She received her J.D. from Villanova University School of Law in 2006.

Throughout her career, she has managed U.S. and international trademark portfolios for various clients ranging from start-up to Fortune 500 companies. She is experienced in all aspects of U.S. and international trademark clearance, prosecution, enforcement and maintenance including registering and maintaining trademark and copyright registrations. Jennifer routinely counsels clients regarding global trademark, copyright, domain name, trade dress and related intellectual property matters, including domestic and foreign brand selection, prosecution, enforcement, customs protection, acquisitions and intellectual property portfolio and global brand protection strategies. Jennifer also has experience in conducting clearance searches, developing filing and enforcement strategies, handling proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, preparing cease-and-desist letters and Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) take-down notices, delivering infringement opinions for trademarks and copyrights, preparing Internet enforcement strategies, and drafting, reviewing and analyzing trademark, copyright and patent Assignment and Licensing Agreements. She also provides litigation support in patent and trademark infringement actions and general commercial matters and has advised clients regarding regulatory matters affecting franchising.
Jennifer has counseled clients across numerous diverse industries including those in the technology, software, gaming, telecommunications, banking, publishing, sports, retail and apparel, oil, energy and power, fitness, hotel and tourism, entertainment, and food and beverage fields.
Jennifer has authored or co-authored many peer-reviewed articles, several of which were published in the National Law Review.
Jennifer is admitted to the Washington State Bar. She is a member of International Trademark Association (INTA), and served on the Trademark Administrators Committee (2012-2014). She is also a member of the Intellectual Property Owners Association (IPO), and is currently serving as the Secretary of the US Trademark Law Committee (2014-present).
