Andy M. Han specializes in domestic and foreign patent prosecution
in the fields of electronics/electrical engineering, software
and mechanical engineering. He graduated from San Jose State
University with a M.S. in Electrical Engineering (2004), where
he served as the President of Tau Beta Pi, and obtained his
M.B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley (2000)
as well as a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University
of Washington (1991). He went on to receive a J.D. (cum laude)
from Seattle University School of Law (2007).
Andy has extensive experience with patent prosecution of DRAM,
flash memory, wireless, networking, analog and digital circuitry,
medical device, semiconductor and software technology matters.
Prior to joining Seed IP, Andy served in a number of capacities
involving a variety of technical fields. He was an engineering
intern at IBM Corp. where he assisted in the designing of
a circuit which could sense and control fluid flow. For the
next five years, he served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy
and a Nuclear Propulsion Officer on the USS California (CGN
36), where he supervised the upkeep and operation of the nuclear
reactor plant equipment and systems. For the next eight years,
Andy was employed at several high-tech companies (Applied
Materials, Trimble Navigation, Marimba and Cisco Systems)
where he designed and improved flow sensing circuitry and
gas lines for chip-fabrication equipment, developed technical
specifications for GPS module for interface with specific
customer applications and for JAVA-based enterprise-level
change management software. Andy also developed product requirements
for IEEE 802.11b/g and VoIP-enabled broadband cable router
and for cable network management software. In more recent
years, he was employed by several area law firms as a patent
analyst, patent clerk as well as an associate.
Andy is admitted to the bar in Washington State and is registered
to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He
is a member of the Washington State Bar Association, Washington
State Patent Law Association (WSPLA) and Asian Bar Association
of Washington.
